Summer has a special meaning to the people of Iceland. The winter is long and often difficult and the arrival of summer means that the next few months will bring days of around the clock light, sunshine, fun and vacation.
People in Iceland do not like to waste the few days of sunshine by staying indoors. Businesses are known to close up shop “due to good weather” and people use these summer days to stroll outside, go swimming, camping or just about anything that involves outdoor activities. Some people spend every summer weekend camping. Barbequing is a required activity a few times a week. We just love summer! By fall we are exhausted of all the activities and look just as much forward to the calmness of the winter months!
