An Island in the Sagas

The island that can be seen in the center of this photo is Drangey, an island that is well known from the Icelandic Sagas. Grettir Asmundsson, the strong, lived on this island after roaming around Iceland for years. He lived on this island for three years. Once he swam from the island to shore to get fire and then back after a rest in Grettir's pool.
