Bolungarvik has been a fishing station since the settlement of Iceland. The boats and the gear may have changed but the mountains have not. They are still the backdrop of this beautiful town, the northernmost in the Westfjords. The fish brings livelihood, the harbor is the lifeline, but the mountains are what makes the town beautiful. Bolungarvik may still have the hardiest seamen in Iceland, going out to sea almost regardless of the weather.
