Rowing for Life

Rowing for Life
Icelanders used rowing boats for centuries. The first motor boat came to Iceland in the year 1904. Row boats were dragged from the sea and back in. This photo is not a setup, but shows a real fishing boat and the exact location where they came on shore. The sea was not always in a good mood and many lives were lost at sea, but catching fish was a matter of survival.
